The Extended Nozzle, also known as an Extended Nozzle, is a jetting component designed specifically for industrial spraying, fluid transfer, and precision dispensing systems. It extends the spray distance and adjusts the spray angle, enabling precise spraying of liquids, gases, or mixed media into complex or deep-hole applications. Its main body is typically constructed of stainless steel, brass, or high-performance alloys, and its internal flow channels are precision-machined to ensure stable fluid flow rate and pressure. Extended Nozzles can be straight, angled, or customizable with multiple angles, in lengths ranging from 30mm to 200mm, and compatible with standard threaded connections. These nozzles are widely used for adhesive spraying, lubrication, cleaning, cooling, welding flux delivery, and directional spraying in high-temperature environments. Their extended design not only enhances operational flexibility but also protects the equipment by preventing the nozzle from coming into close contact with high-temperature, corrosive, or high-pressure environments, thereby extending its lifespan. In multi-point spray systems, the Extended Nozzle also enables spatially layered spraying, enhancing production line layout flexibility and ease of maintenance.
Extended Nozzle Features
1. Precision:
The extended nozzle's inner bore is formed using a combined micro-drilling and electro-spark process. The nozzle diameter ranges from 0.20 to 1.20 mm, with a controlled aperture tolerance of ±5 microns. The polished flow channel achieves a surface roughness of Ra 0.4 microns. The inlet corner radius reduces shear and vortex flow, resulting in a spray angle tolerance of ±1 degree. For media with viscosities ranging from 100 to 8,000 centipoise, the flow rate dispersion coefficient is less than 2.5%, and the pulsation ratio is less than 3%. It maintains stable line width and placement even after one million actuations, making it ideal for spraying and dispensing applications requiring stringent consistency.
2. Pressure Resistance:
The extended nozzle body is milled from SUS304 or SUS316L. The critical pressure-bearing sections undergo solution and aging heat treatment, resulting in a burst safety factor of 2.5. It has been tested to a static pressure of 20 MPa and has completed 500,000 cycles at a pulsating pressure of 16 MPa without leakage. The inlet joint utilizes an integrated cone seal and a fluoroelastomer ring for dual protection, maintaining a stable seal even at a pressure ramp rate of 0.5 MPa per second. When used in hot melt adhesive and high-pressure coolant systems, axial displacement is less than 0.05 mm, ensuring repeatability and safety redundancy during high-pressure start-up and shutdown phases.
3. High-Temperature Resistance:
The metal channel is not coated with any aging-prone materials, offering a long-term operating temperature of 250°C. Optional PTFE or FFKM seals increase the upper limit to 320°C. A safe distance of 30 to 150 mm is maintained between the nozzle tip and the hot substrate, significantly reducing heat flux and the risk of premature adhesive cross-linking or excessive solvent evaporation. After thermal drift calibration, the spray center deviation does not exceed 0.1 mm over the entire temperature range from 25 to 250°C, ensuring consistent placement of the multi-axis linkage in high-temperature workstations.
4. Multiple Angles:
The extended nozzle offers three configurations: straight, right-angle, and 45-degree bend. The angle accuracy is controlled to within ±0.5 degrees, facilitating the avoidance of side beams and fixtures in interfering spaces. The 45-degree configuration is suitable for cavity sidewalls and stepped grooves, while the right-angle configuration is suitable for fixtures facing away from the mounting surface or with reverse rotation. A variety of extension tube lengths ranging from 30 to 200 mm enable layered spraying and cross-fixture spraying on the same platform, reducing handling time. Angle switching is completed within one minute. After a changeover, there is no need to recalibrate the main machine coordinates; a single three-point calibration of the nozzle tip restores production accuracy.
5. Wear Resistance:
The nozzle outlet area is dual-hardened using nitriding and laser cladding, achieving a surface microhardness of HV 900 to 1100. When spraying a medium containing filler or metal powder at a pressure of 25 bar and a flow rate of 300 ml/min for 100 hours, the nozzle diameter does not change by more than 0.01 mm, and the flow rate drift is less than 2%. When used for cooling sprays of glass fiber-reinforced adhesives or those containing silicon carbide particles, erosion depth is significantly reduced, maintaining a stable atomized particle size distribution and extending maintenance and spare part replacement intervals.
6. Replaceable:
The extended nozzle offers M6x1 and M8x125 metric thread options, as well as an 1/8 NPT option. It is factory-fitted with an adapter sleeve and locating stop, ensuring repeatable concentricity of less than 0.05 mm. The modular design allows for the disassembly and assembly of the nozzle body, extension tube, and connector in sections, allowing common maintenance to be completed in less than two minutes. It is compatible with multiple brands of dispensing valves and hot melt adhesive gun tips, supporting a variety of mixing ratio feeders ranging from 1:1 to 1:10. Spare parts are coded and come with a factory flow rate and angle curve report. After replacing a part, the original process parameters can be recalled by part number, minimizing line downtime and reducing yield fluctuations caused by parameter re-adjustments.
1. Hot Melt Adhesive Spraying:
Applications such as packaging unpacking and sealing, shoe lamination, and electronic device dispensing place high demands on glue line consistency and placement deviation. The Extended Nozzle utilizes an extended structure to maintain the nozzle within 30–120mm of the heat source, minimizing thermal reflow. Common apertures are 0.3–0.6mm, line speeds are 200–600mm/s, and glue line widths are controllable from 0.8–2.5mm. 45° and right-angle nozzles enable a "bevel entry and straight exit" trajectory at corners, minimizing stringing. Combined with a temperature control of 170–190°C and a pressure supply of 0.3–0.6MPa, it creates uniform glue seams at carton flanges, blister cover openings, and FPC supports, achieving stable peel strength after curing.
2. Lubrication:
Hidden locations such as gearbox access hatches, chain drive shrouds, and guide rail ends are often susceptible to blind spots. The extended nozzle can pass over protective components, precisely delivering lubricant with a viscosity of 32–100 cSt to the meshing area or raceway. The recommended spray distance is 60–150 mm, and the single-point oil replenishment volume is 0.05–0.2 mL. The right-angle nozzle is suitable for use on back-facing mounting surfaces, while the 45° nozzle is suitable for use on stepped groove sidewalls, reducing splashing and lubricant waste. Linked to a clock signal, it can deliver a metered spray response to equipment start/stop or temperature rise thresholds, thereby reducing dry friction and noise, and extending bearing and chain life.
3. Deep Cavity and Pipeline Cleaning:
Debris and sludge often accumulate in mold cooling holes, casting cavities, and heat exchanger bundles. The Extended Nozzle, combined with a 0.6–1.2 mm nozzle orifice and high-pressure water or neutral solvent, delivers a targeted flushing force of 0.8–1.5 MPa. A spray distance of 80–200 mm can reach blind areas. The direct spray nozzle is suitable for straight-through pipe sections, while the 45° nozzle is used for strip flushing of the sidewall behind the bend neck, removing thin deposits without disassembling the fixture. Combined with a rotary fixture or linear reciprocating motion, a "spiral sweep" path can be created, improving cleaning consistency and reducing maintenance downtime.
4. Targeted Cooling at Workstations:
The hot zone of stamping, weld annealing sections, and casting risers often experience concentrated temperature differences. The Extended Nozzle delivers coolant or compressed air to these hot spots, typically with a spray distance of 50–120mm and a flow rate of 0.3–1.0 L/min (water) or 50–150 L/min (air), aiming for laminar coverage to avoid stress concentrations. The 45° nozzle is suitable for lateral sweeping of the weld toe, while the right-angle nozzle facilitates access to the workpiece from the back of the fixture. Combined with a thermal imaging threshold trigger, short pulses of spray can be initiated when the temperature exceeds a set value, reducing deformation and stabilizing subsequent dimensional inspection results.
5. Internal Corner/Trough Surface Treatment Spraying:
Rust-proof primers, wear-resistant coatings, or release agents are prone to obscuration on the edges of troughs and the inside of three-dimensional structures. Extended nozzles bypass fixture beams or workpiece edges, creating a stable fan-shaped or cylindrical spray pattern within a 40–100mm spray distance. Typical configurations include a 0.4–0.8mm aperture and 0.2–0.5MPa atomization pressure. A 45° configuration allows for continuous coating of angled corners. Direct spraying is suitable for deep, straight groove bottoms, maintaining minimal angle tolerance and enabling film thickness control within a ±10–15μm range. Synchronization with multi-axis tracking reduces missed sprays and rework, improving appearance consistency and corrosion resistance.
